Corsham and Chippenham Central Bible Study

Providing spiritual ministry and fellowship for the Lord's people.

Preserving a conservative evangelical witness in the area.

Promoting the evangelisation of the towns and villages around.

Through the Corsham Central Bible Study (from 1998 Corsham and Chippenham Central Bible Study) God has provided faithful ministry of His word for 69 years.  The weekly studies, from September to April each year were started by Pastor H L Matthews, Pastor at Colerne from 1932 until 1970, with the inaugural meeting on a Friday in October 1937 being addressed by Rev. W J Williams of Bedminster Tabernacle in Bristol.  For the two previous years there had been a less regular Bible study in Box.

From September 1954 and until prevented by his final illness in 1979, the first study of the year was led by Dr Martyn Lloyd Jones.  God has blessed many generations on Friday evenings with ministry from some of the greatest preachers in our land.  Before the age of mass car-ownership, coaches were chartered to bring people from the neighbouring villages and towns, packing the venue in Corsham Town hall with up to 250 people, some from as far as Gloucester and South Wales.  From 1998 the location has moved to Ladyfield in Chippenham, but the fine tradition of faithful preaching has been preserved.
